The Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) is Australia’s national statistical agency and an official source of independent, reliable information. We tell the real story of Australia, its people and its economy by bringing life and meaning to numbers.
The ABS has provided official statistics for over 100 years on a wide range of economic, social, population, and environmental matters. Our statistics, insights and data services are derived from an expanding suite of traditional and newly acquired data sources, and by ensuring the integrity of statistical methodologies we shape the foundation of evidence-based policies.
The ABS is focussed on the future of statistics and methodological development by driving Data Integration and Acquisition initiatives across the Australian Government, and increasing utilisation of existing Big Data and administrative data sources to provide more timely insights through Machine Learning, Artificial Intelligence and automated coding solutions.
